The key purpose of the in-depth analysis was to identify the multidisciplinary and multidimensional nature of the threats and risks to target community livelihoods and livelihood strategies (represented by the value chains) and opportunities that have enabled these communities to withstand the risks; and even when they have succumbed, to bounce back to, or above, their previous (pre-risk) livelihood and livelihood strategies position. This report discusses the recently completed Somaliland context analysis study that has been validated by study participants from the field and by Somaliland government officials, as well as recommendations from the donor and the findings of the two field missions undertaken by FAO staff between August and September 2020.
